Never Ending Story

Porter Contemporary is hosting a A Polaroid Portrait Moment Within A Portrait Apart during the Chelsea Art Walk on July 28 from 6 - 8 PM. The second annual Chelsea Art Walk will take place at over 125 galleries and art institutions.  In addition to extended hours at all of the locations, there will be special events such as talks by artists, curators, and gallery owners, live performances, book sales, book signings and receptions.

Porter Contemporary's exhibition during the event, A Portrait Apart, comprised of the works of fifteen contemporary artists each with a unique view of portraiture will be the backdrop for Jeff Ballinger's Polaroid Portraits from 6 to 8 PM during the walk. Ballinger, who has enjoyed doing photography both professionally and personally for more than 30 years, has turned his focus recently to that of the instantaneous nature of the Polaroid.  Using a camera similar to his first one as a child, Ballinger captures portraits in black & white of a spontaneous but timeless nature.

This event is free and open to the public. You will walk away with your very own portrait from within A Portrait Apart!
